These resources are aimed at supporting the prevention of pressure ulcers/injuries (PU/PI) during the rehabilitation phase following spinal cord injury (SCI).
Effective prevention requires a multidisciplinary approach involving specialised SCI teams, as well as education of individuals with SCI and their relatives. Establishing routines, building knowledge and supporting self-management are key elements in reducing the risk of PU/PI.
The materials in this section focus on implementing preventive strategies, patient education and planning for a safe transition beyond rehabilitation, including long-term follow-up.
These resources are part of the Pressure Injury Recurrence Toolkit – an evidence-based toolkit developed to support healthcare professionals, patients, and informal caregivers in preventing recurrence of pressure injuries in individuals with spinal cord injury. The project is developed in collaboration with Wounds Australia.
