Full participant grant for lower to lower-middle income country residents
Low- to lower-middle income countries are defined according to World Bank definitions (Link: The World Bank),
The EWMA Conference Participant Grant for wound care professionals in low- to middle-income countries, characterized by resource-constrained health care settings and limited access to continuing education. The grant applicants may be medical doctors (MDs), registered nurses (RNs), and other professionals (such as podiatrists, physiotherapists or other allied health professionals) with a clear focus on wound management and limited means available to support their participation in the conference.
Eligibility Requirements
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Be a qualified medical doctor (MD) or registered nurse (RN) with a professional focus on wound care, tissue viability, or related fields (e.g. surgery, dermatology, vascular care, diabetes care).
- Be currently practicing in a low-income or lower-middle-income country, as defined by the World Bank based on Gross National Income (GNI) per capita.
- Demonstrate a clear interest in wound management and continuing professional education.
- Be able to communicate in English or the language of the conference host countries (if the conference is bi-lingual).
- Not have received a EWMA conference grant within the previous four years.
- Be available to attend the full conference programme in person.
Selection Criteria
- Applications will be assessed by EWMA based on the following criteria:
- Professional background and experience in wound management.
- Relevance of the EWMA Conference to the applicant’s current clinical practice and professional development goals.
- Potential impact of the conference participation on local wound care practice, education, or service development.
- Commitment to knowledge dissemination, such as sharing learnings with colleagues, institutions, or professional networks after the conference.
- Geographical and professional diversity, with the aim of supporting a broad range of applicants across regions and care settings.
Grant amount & how to apply
The participant grant includes free conference registration and a maximum of 1500 EUR which may be used to cover travel and accommodation costs related to the EWMA Conference participation.
Payment of the grant can be done via direct costs coverage or transfer, according to need/possibilities All costs must be documented.

Application deadline: Monday 23 February (For grants supporting participation in the EWMA-DEWU 2026 Conference).
Application feedback: Will be sent minimum two months before the conference.

Conference registration grant for upper-middle income country residents
EWMA is pleased to offer 10 Grants for Health Care Professionals from upper-middle income countries (According to the definition of the World Bank), registration only, for the EWMA-DEWU 2026 conference in Bremen, Germany.
Each educational grant has a value of EUR 490. The registration is non-transferable and cannot be exchanged into monetary value or similar.
The receivers of grants will be selected by the EWMA Educational grant committee. Grant applicants will be informed directly.

Registration must occur within 14 days after receiving the grant otherwise the grant will no longer be valid.
