Nutritional advice for individuals with wounds at home
This resource provides practical, evidence-informed nutritional guidance for individuals living with chronic wounds at home and for the clinicians and caregivers supporting them. It explains why nutrition matters for wound healing, highlights the importance of screening for malnutrition, and outlines person-centred steps for assessment, shared decision-making, intervention, and monitoring.
Use it to identify common barriers to eating and drinking, select symptom-specific strategies, and know when to refer to a dietitian or other specialists.
The recommendations are intended to support, not replace, individual clinical judgement and local pathways.
