What makes the Atypical Wounds Masterclass a valuable hands-on learning opportunity for attendees?
What excites me most about the Atypical Wounds Masterclass is the chance to explore, in a truly multidisciplinary way, the complex spectrum of malignant, inflammatory, occlusive vasculopathic, infectious and factitious wounds. These cases challenge our reasoning and benefit enormously from collaboration between dermatologists, nurses, pathologists, internists, surgeons and wound-care specialists. EWMA-DEWU 2026 will be a fantastic opportunity to refine our diagnostic pathways, apply practical tools directly to patient care, and learn from the additional conference sessions and the dedicated workshop on atypical wounds included in the programme.

What do you consider to be the scientific highlights of the conference?
This conference presents several exciting aspects, which will now be introduced by international experts from various healthcare systems. There is much we can learn from each other here. Personally, I find the new developments in the use of artificial intelligence and smart bandages particularly exciting. Certainly, there are risks involved, but above all, there are opportunities to further improve the diagnosis, documentation, and treatment of individual patients in the coming years.
