Message from immediate past President Kirsi Isoherranen

As Kirsi Isoherranen has ended her term as President of EWMA. The next two years, she will be holding the title of Immediate Past President. We have asked her to highlight a couple of key moments as the president of EWMA and to share some of her thoughts on her upcoming role.

“I have been extremely grateful for the opportunity to serve EWMA for two years as the President. My main objective was to highlight the role of early diagnostics in wound care pathways, interprofessional wound care, and education. These objectives are linked to patient rights, sustainability in wound care, reduced costs, and improved healing outcomes.

Key moments have been several, but to mention some: the very successful London and Barcelona conferences, the pioneering work of the EWMA GP Network, signing the Barcelona Declaration, organising atypical wounds masterclasses, and establishing strong interprofessional connections with several organisations, like ESVS, EBA, UEMS, and EAFWH.

This work continues in my role as the Immediate Past President and chair of the Antimicrobial Stewardship Group and Cooperating Organisations Board. The success of EWMA is still based on a very strong organisational foundation and passionate and vision-driven teamwork, and the future looks very bright with several outstanding leaders.”

A big thank you to Kirsi for her amazing work!
