Engaged in:
- Development of a curriculum for physicians involved in wound care, with the aim to ensure that these physicians have a sufficient level of expertise within the area to provide efficient and safe treatment of their patients. Approved by the European Union of Medical Specialists (UEMS) in April 2015.
- Development of wound management curricula for post registration qualification of nurses. EWMA is currently working on series of European curriculum for post registration qualification of nurses with the aim to support more standardised content in the existing and future educational programmes used in levels 5-7 of the European Qualifications Framework (EQF). The first curriculum (EQF level 5) was published as an online supplement to the Journal of Wound Care in December 2017.
- Development of a series of e-learning modules on the basics of wound management, targeting non wound care professionals working in hospitals and home care/nursing homes.
- Member of the Joint EPUAP & EWMA Pressure Ulcer prevention & patient safety advocacy project (working group member), July 2016-June 2018 (Still a member). The European Pressure Ulcer Advisory Panel (EPUAP) and EWMA are collaborating on a joint engagement in the PU prevention and patient safety agendas at the European level as well as at the national level in selected European countries. Engagement included publications and presentations about the project at various conferences and meetings with key stakeholders.
- Member of the Wound Centre Endorsements Working Group (Still a member). EWMA working group established with the objective to develop a programme for endorsement of wound management centres in Europe and internationally. The aim of this initiative is to support common high standards of wound management across Europe as well as in other countries with similar health care systems across the world.
