Every year, there comes a long-awaited time, announced months before the conference: the time for abstract submission. This is a period of great mobilization for every researcher to summarize current research results and grab the opportunity to present them in front of a group of worldwide professionals.

Experts in various medical fields can give you feedback that may enrich your current project and prove relevant for the further direction of your research. It’s always beneficial to confront our concerns with other specialists who can share their experiences with you and provide valuable guidance. This is the main reason why I travel abroad to join the EWMA Conferences.

Moreover, during the conference, you can network with people sharing the same interests and build relationships with them. This is where international collaborations begin, and that’s exactly what happened to me during the EWMA 2024 Conference in London. I met passionate and motivated doctors interested in wound healing, who were eager to engage in joint scientific activities, so we planned an interdisciplinary and multicenter study. I felt so inspired after the conference!

Not only is the conference a great opportunity to network. It is also a chance to increase your visibility as an expert and gain recognition in your field. Presenting the results of your research in the public arena allows a growing number of people to learn about your work, which can lead to valuable scientific cooperation.

Nowadays, it is also a good idea to share professional activities on social media. When showcasing our continuous development and education we create our “virtual business card” there. So, don’t forget to post a picture on your LinkedIn or Instagram!

I cannot help but mention the other benefits of being an active participant in the conference – you can apply for grants and scholarships that can cover conference expenses. Moreover, a panel of judges evaluates the presentations during the conference. The winners receive awards, which are announced at the official Closing Ceremony.
