EWMA masterclasses

EWMA Masterclasses are usually held in connection with the EWMA Conferences (Day before the conference) and are half to full day courses offering expert lectures as well as sessions including case-based discussions and/or assignments. 

Previous EWMA Masterclasses include:

  • Masterclass on Oxygen Therapies, held during EWMA 2019 in Gothenburg, Sweden.
  • Masterclass on Atypical Wounds - with a special focus on small vessels pathologies, held online in September 2021

EWMA masterclass 2021: Atypical Wounds

About the masterclass

The 2021 EWMA Masterclass was dedicated to Atypical Wounds with a special focus on small vessel pathology, including Martorell Hypertensive ulcer and calciphylaxis and occlusive vasculopathies. This masterclass provided a comprehensive deep dive into atypical wounds. It also touched upon practical advice on some of the challenges that typically arise when diagnosing and treating these types of wounds.


The masterclass took place online on Friday 17 September 2021.

The class included lectures and Q&A sessions with Valentina Dini (Italy), Elena Conde Montero (Spain) and Mar Llamas Velasco (Spain)
