New Publication: Wound management curriculum for post registration qualification of nurses, EQF level 7
With wounds being one of the more common reasons for prescribing antibiotics, EWMA believes that it is incumbent upon the organisation to play in active role in combatting the overuse of antibiotics. This is why EWMA since 2013 has had AMR at top of its agenda, and initiated a range of activities targeted at raising awareness about the prudent use of antibiotics in wound care, which largely means following the principles of antimicrobial stewardship (AMS).
An emerging concern, is the sustainable use of biocides such as antiseptics and other non-antibiotic agents, to ensure the preservation of this reserve. This is why, the next period of the Antimicrobial Stewardship Programme will also feature a focus on the appropriate use of biocides.
