EWMA 2020: Surgical Interventions for Lymphedema and Chronic Venous Insufficiency

The primary treatment options for patients with lower leg oedema due to lymphatic hypertension and chronic venous insufficiency is conservative; compression therapy is the treatment of choice for the majority of these patients. However, there are a number of situations where both the lymphatic and venous pathologies can be corrected with surgical interventions. This session aims to give an overview of surgical treatment modalities for these conditions, highlighting new surgical concepts to reverse lymphatic and venous hypertension. Thus, participants should become able to recognise those patients who could profit from surgical treatment.
