EWMA 2027

Welcome to the Abstract Submission for EWMA 2027

Share your research and contribute to the scientific programme of EWMA 2027. Abstract submission opens in September 2026, offering an opportunity to present your work to an international audience of wound management professionals.

Abstracts must be submitted by 8 December 2026 at 23:59 CET.

International abstract submission
Abstracts submitted in English are evaluated by the EWMA Scientific Committee and considered for the English spoken programme.

Finnish abstract submission
Abstracts submitted in Finnish are evaluated by the Finnish representatives from FWCS in the EWMA Scientific Committee and considered for the Finnish spoken programme.

NB! Please note that you cannot submit your abstract in one language and present it in the other.

EWMA-DEWU 2026 Oral Presentation
Oral Presentation

If accepted for oral presentation, you will be offered an 8 minute presentation timeslot in a free paper session.

EWMA-DEWU 2026 E-Poster Presentation
Electronic Poster Presentation or Display

If accepted for an e-poster presentation, you will be offered a 5 minute presentation timeslot and have the e-poster on display throughout the conference or choose to have your e-poster on display only.

E-posters in the categories “Case Studies“, “Post Market Surveillance” and “Professional Communication” are accepted for display only.

  • Language: English or Finnish. All abstracts must be presented in the language, it was submitted in.
  • Word limit: 275 words excl. title, authors and affiliations.
  • Template: Please use the abstract submission templates.
  • Review of abstracts: All abstracts are reviewed by the EWMA Scientific Committee. Submission in a specific presentation type or category only indicates interest from the submitter's side. It is not a guarantee that it’s available. The Scientific Committee holds the right to offer the author another presentation type or category.
  • Abstract publication: By submitting an abstract to EWMA 2027 submitters give their consent to the publication of the submitted abstract in the conference material (E.g. app, website, EWMA Journal of Wound Management).

Submission Conditions

Abstract Requirement

Abstract submission is required for all oral presentations and e-posters.

Submission Deadline

Abstracts must be submitted by 8 December 2026 at 23:59 CET.

Number of Submissions

A maximum of 6 abstracts with the same presenting author may be submitted.

Language

Abstracts must be submitted in English or Finnish.

Withdrawal

Withdrawal of an abstract must be requested in writing and confirmed by the EWMA Secretariat.

Abstracts may be withdrawn no later than 14 days after notification of acceptance.

Abstract Publication

Accepted abstracts may be published on the conference website, in the conference app and in the EWMA Journal of Wound Management Supplement.

By submitting  an abstract, you give EWMA permission to publish your abstract.

Conference Registration

The presenting author must register as a participant for the full conference by the deadline informed in the acceptance e-mail.

Registration & Withdrawal 

Failure to register shall not be regarded as an automatic withdrawal of your abstract.

Withdrawal requests must be submitted by email to scientific@ewma.org

Scientific Programme Inclusion

EWMA reserves the right to exclude any abstract from the scientific programme that is not followed by a participant registration.

Maximum Number of Presenations

Max. 2 oral presentations and max. 2 e-poster presentations by the same presenting author will be accepted for presentation at the conference.

Presenting Author

The presenting author does not have to be the 1st author.

Word Limit

The abstract is limited to max. 275 words, excluding title, authors and affiliations.

The EWMA Secretariat reserves the right to edit abstracts that exceed the word limit.

Abstract Title

The title should be brief and clearly indicate the nature of the study.

It must be written in CAPITAL LETTERS and should not end with a full stop.

Blind Review

Identifying information such as author names, hospitals, medical schools, clinics or cities must not be included in the title or abstract text, as a blind review process will be used.

Author names and affiliations must be entered separately during submission.

Abstract Structure

The abstract must include the following:

  • Aim: Clearly state the purpose of the abstract.
  • Methods: Describe your selection of observations or experimental subjects clearly.
  • Results: Present your results in a logical sequence in text, tables and illustrations.
  • Conclusions: Emphasize new and important aspects of the study and the conclusions drawn from them.

Abbreviations

All abbreviations must be defined on first use. 

Completed Studies

Only completed studies may be submitted. Future-tense statements such as ‘results will be discussed‘ or ‘data will be presented‘ are not permitted. 

Previously Presented Work

Abstracts previously presented at an EWMA conference will not be accepted unless there has been a substantial increase in data. 

Product & Company Names

Generic names must be used for all references to products or companies. A brand name may be included as a reference at the bottom of the abstract. 

Abstracts containing brand or company names in the abstract text may be rejected on this basis alone. EWMA reserves the right to replace brand names with generic names without further notice.

Image Rights

Authors and submitters must ensure that they either hold the copyright for any images used or have obtained the necessary licence or permission from the copyright holder for academic and publication purposes. 

For images or photographs used in case presentations, patient consent must be obtained in accordance with applicable local legislation. Authors bear full responsibility for the images presented or published and for their use in scientific forums.

  • All abstracts are reviewed by the EWMA Scientific Committee.

  • Notification of acceptance or rejection of the abstract will be sent to the submitter in February 2027.

  • It is the responsibility of all submitters that all studies are performed with respect to national legislation, international legislation and ethical guidelines both with regards to humans and animals. The Scientific Committee reserves the right to reject any submitted abstract that is believed to violate these principles.

  • Please verify that your email address (submitter and presenting author) is correct as it will be used for contacting you after the review process.

  • The Scientific Committee reserves the right not to give detailed information as to why an abstract is rejected.
