Are you a veterinary surgeon or experienced nurse with a passion for wound management? Or are you from the human field and interested to experience what is going on in veterinary wound healing science, or to be inspired from another point of view?
Join the International Conference of the Veterinary Wound Healing Association (VWHA)
at EWMA 2023, 4-5 May
The theme is:
“Latest news on wound management in horses and small animals”
This conference is in collaboration with the Italian organisations SIVE and SCIVAC representing respectively the equine and small animal practitioners. We will present and discuss challenges we all encounter in everyday veterinary practice, such as non-healing wounds, infections, large wounds, do we need antibiotics during wound treatment? What products should we use for wound treatment? From the point of view and understanding of physiologic events, we will address a variety of treatment options.
The choice of local wound treatment is of paramount importance to prevent complications and to promote healing. Therefore, we will focus on how we can improve the local conditions of the wound. Besides the use of local topical products and dressings, we will work out the indications of physical methods such as Negative Pressure Wound Therapy and the use of laser. Additionally, we will elaborate on the very important surgical solutions to heal wounds with skin grafting techniques and/or reconstructive surgery.
