EWMA Council Election 2022

 The EWMA Council Election is held in two ways: 

  • Election of council members by and among the individual members of EWMA
  • Election of council members by and among the EWMA Cooperating Organisations

The call for candidates for the election among the individual members is presented below.

Information about the cooperating organisations election will be sent to the representatives of the Cooperating Organisations of EWMA 



Invitation to all individual members of EWMA: Call for candidates

If you have been a member of EWMA for six months or more, you are entitled to stand for council. 

In order to stand for council, you must inform the EWMA Secretariat about your candidacy and be nominated by a minimum of two existing members of EWMA.

  • The two nominations must be made in writing by existing members of EWMA and must be in the hands of the EWMA Honorary Secretary latest on Sunday 17 April 2022.
  • Nominations can be made by email to the EWMA Secretariat, att. Julie Bjerregaard, jb@ewma.org

The CVs and photographs of nominated candidates will be presented at www.ewma.org on Monday the 25th of April 2022.

This year, there are three (3) vacancies available in council for individual members of EWMA.

In addition to these, two (2) new members of council will be elected by the cooperating organisations. 

In total, three (3) of these five vacancies (individual and coop org) are currently held by a member of council who have come to the end of her/his term, but can choose to stand for re-election. However, these vacancies are also open to other members, who wish to stand for election.

Should nominations exceed vacancies, the election will be arranged by online ballot. 

Should insufficient nominations be received, nominations may be accepted from the floor at the Annual General Meeting. Such nominations will be voted on by the members present.


EWMA Annual General Meeting 2022

EWMA members are invited to the Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the European Wound Management Association (EWMA), which will be held on Wednesday 25 May 2022 at 13.00-13.30 (Time still subject to minor adjustments).

The Annual General Meeting of EWMA is the association’s General Assembly and will be held in conjunction with the EWMA 2022 Conference in Paris, France, 23-25 May 2022.

Should you have any suggestions for agenda items, please forward them Monday 18 April 2022 the latest.

The AGM will be held in the EWMA 2022 Conference venue: Palais des Congrès de Paris, 2 Place de la Porte Maillot, 75017 Paris

Council Election - Individual Members

In 2022, there are three (3) vacancies for individual members of EWMA.

For these vacancies there are seven (7) candidates:

  • Franco Bassetto, Italy
  • Dimitri Beeckman, Belgium 
  • Valentina Dini, Italy
  • Klaus Kirketerp-Møller, Denmark
  • Tanja Planinšek Ručigaj, Slovenia 
  • Ewa Stürmer, Germany
  • Hubert Vuagnat, Swiss

The election among individual EWMA members will take place via an online ballotAll members entitled to vote will receive an email with link and instructions. Please note that only members registered by the 1st of January in the year of the election are entitled to vote. 

Voting instructions:

  • Each member has three (3) votes (prioritisation of candidates is not possible).
  • If you select more than three (3) candidates, your vote will not be valid.
  • If you are a candidate, you are allowed to vote for yourself.
  • Those members receiving the majority of votes will be elected members of the EWMA Council. In the event of an equal number of votes being cast on two or more candidates, an additional ballot will be arranged to determine which of these candidates should be invited to join the EWMA Council. 

All members will receive an email with the link to the online ballot. The ballot will close Tuesday 24 May 2022 at 12:00 CEST.

Council Election - Cooperating Organisations

This year, there are two (2) vacancy for the Cooperating Organisations representatives in the EWMA Council.

For these vacancies, there are five (5) candidates:

  • Srećko Bosić, Serbian Wound Healing Society
  • Tânia Alexandra Duarte dos Santos, Portuguese Wound Association (ELCOS)
  • Ana Lamza, Croatian Wound Association (CWA)
  • Battistino Paggi, AISLeC
  • David Pérez Barreno, Spanish Vascular Nursing and Wounds Association (AEEVH)

The Cooperating Organisations Board Meeting will be held on the 24th of May at 15:00-18:30 CEST during the EWMA conference in Paris

All candidates for EWMA Council election must participate in this Cooperating Organisations Board meeting in order to present themselves before the election, which will take place during the meeting.

The result of the election will be announced during the meeting and published on www.ewma.org as well as EWMA's social media platforms.
