Curricular Framework The Education Committee has designed a curricular framework that incorporates various aspects of wound management in a number of Education Modules.
EWMA Education Modules The Education Modules are developed by members of the EWMA Education Committee and/or affiliated wound care specialists. All modules are based on a standard template but individually focused on a specific aspect of wound management.
Each Education Module specifies learning outcomes for knowledge and practical skill acquisition, for specific wound types or wound related topics. Thus, each Module, in separate, or a number of Modules together, provides a solid basis for a variety of education activities on wound management, including for the development of training courses.
The following modules have been completed: - Assessment & Management of the Diabetic Foot
- Introduction to Wound Management
- Management of Acute & Traumatic Wounds
- Management of Oncology Wounds
- Patient and Wound Assessment
- Physiology of Wound Healing and Tissue Repair
- Prevention and Management of Leg Ulcers
- Prevention and Management of Pressure Ulcers
- Seeking and Appraising Evidence
- Wound Infection
The following modules are under development: - Case-Studies
- Dermatological aspects of wound management
- Lymphoedema
The content of each module is developed using the following headings to ensure consistency: - Epidemiology & Aetiology
- Anatomy & Pathophysiology
- Principles of Patient Care Assessment
- Risk Factor Management
- Local Wound Management
- Specialist Interventions
- Pharmacological Management
- Rehabilitation Services
- Psychosocial Aspects of Care
Access to the EWMA Education Modules The Education Modules are the intellectual property of EWMA.
Any request for access to the Education Modules must be made in writing to the EWMA Secretariat. The request should include a presentation of the objective of the requested access as well as a description of the institution/association/company making the request. In general, access to the Education Modules is not granted to individuals.
In order to provide access to the Modules, EWMA requires that a formalised collaboration is established between the applicant and EWMA. This collaboration may be in the form of an agreement about EWMA endorsement of a training course to be developed on the basis of the Education Modules. However, other forms of collaboration may be designed by the applicant and EWMA together.
