Prim. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Robert Strohal is head of the Department of Dermatology at the Federal University Teaching Hospital of Feldkirch, Austria. In addition to serving as an external expert for various research and funding programs associated with the European Commission, Dr. Strohal is board member of the Austrian Society of Dermatology, the delegate of the Austrian Society of Dermatology and Venerology at the UEMS in Brussels and past-chair, current vice-chair of the Austrian Task Force “Biologics in Dermatology”.
In the field of Wound Management Dr. Strohal has been president of the AWA for 2 times during the last 4 years and now holds the position of the Vice-president in this society. He and his Department just finalized an European Commission-funded concerted action on genetic skin diseases (GENESKIN incl. epidermolysis bullosa) and have finalized various investigator originated studies with a special focus on new options for the clinical management of MRSA, infection and pain in acute and chronic wounds.
From 2002 to date, Dr. Strohal was in charge of 20 clinical trials as originating author or international lead investigator, was part of 25 pharmaceutical multicenter studies, organized or co-organized 15 national and international congresses, multiple participated in 20 different national to global advisory boards and held more than 180 invited lectures. Continuously publishing Dr. Strohal has received 8 national and international scientific awards.
